Summarize with AI

Don't have the time to read the entire post? Our human writers will be sad, but we understand. Summarize the post with your preferred LLM here instead.

Descope was founded exactly four years ago today. One of our early visions was to help build a world without passwords. Today, we are introducing a product that makes that world a reality. Passwords will still be around, but humans just won’t have to create them anymore.

We are delighted to announce PromptAuth, the industry’s first AI-powered password creation service. You can now let an AI agent come up with your password and spend all that time you save debugging your other AI agents instead. See PromptAuth in action.

Developed by Descope with our partners at Hallucino-Gen Labs, PromptAuth offers developers the first-ever AI-assisted password generation experience to add to their apps. The service uses a proprietary Linguistic Oriented Large Language Model (LOLLM) to ensure that human-entered prompts are processed purely with the goal of creating complex, memorable, and unique passwords that are hard for attackers and automated systems to guess.

By using prompt-based password creation, organizations can eliminate entire categories of cyberattacks and human error. Password and MFA fatigue? The only fatigue humans will feel now will be while sweating about how they will fill their empty calendars. Password spraying? Stop spraying and start praying because PromptAuth creates 1:1 personalized passwords that are resistant to any rainbow table. Asking PromptAuth for other people’s passwords? Actually that might work. Do not ask PromptAuth for other people’s passwords.

“We are thrilled to partner with Descope to make PromptAuth a reality,” said Dr. Lexi Con, CEO of Hallucino-Gen Labs. “Einstein did all that cool stuff because he was bored out of his mind at the Bern patent office with nothing to do. We look forward to more Einsteins being born because people have nothing to do once AI agents start creating passwords for them.”

“It has been a pleasure to collaborate with Hallucino-Gen Labs and bring the power of PromptAuth to developers around the world,” said Gilad Shriki, Co-Founder at Descope. “Just like music streaming services now use AI to create music and playlists according to your mood, you can now create passwords the same way. We have made passwords fun again (well, not “again”, they were never fun to begin with).”

Feedback from early prompters

PromptAuth has been tested by several early adopters in our community and beyond. Here’s what they had to say:

“I asked PromptAuth to create a password that was secure yet pronounceable. Now my password sounds like a piece of IKEA furniture. 10/10, no notes.” - Christian Nørgaard, Scandinavian.

“I like PromptAuth, but my brain is now far too rotted to remember any password, so I just prompt it for new passwords every time. My password reset rate has gone up 10x.” - Lee Dixon, marketing professional.

“All my passwords are now random variations of my SSN and credit card number after I shared those details with PromptAuth. This is the secure future I want to live in.” -  Max Dowman, student.

Where do we go from here?

On the back of AuthentiBlood, Ghos-TP, and deCAPTCHA in previous years, we are proud to continue pushing the auth envelope with PromptAuth. Since we don’t need to devote mental resources to remembering our first pet’s name or the street where we were born anymore, we’ll continue thinking about where else we can help take the future of identity.
